About Dr. Rachel Berger Groner

I am a New York State licensed and USDA accredited veterinarian certified in Veterinary Food Therapy, a form of integrative medicine. I received my DVM degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, and my Veterinary Food Therapy certification from Chi University in Florida in 2018. I also hold a Masters in Public Health from Mount Sinai College of Medicine in New York.

I became interested in practicing integrative medicine when my own pet needed medication for hyperthyroidism. He was very difficult to medicate, and this led me to explore how I, as a veterinarian and as a pet owner, could provide therapy for him and other pets in ways that were holistic, less stressful, had fewer side effects, and enhanced the owner-pet relationship. That is what I have found in integrative medicine, and especially in the practice of Veterinary Food Therapy.

Although I currently practice as a Veterinary Food Therapist, in the past I worked for the USDA as a Public Health Veterinarian and at Columbia University Medical Center in medical research.

On a volunteer basis, I have collaborated on public health research projects with the veterinarians at the NYC Department of Health and the Wildlife Conservation Society, I have taught in the afterschool science program at the American Museum of Natural History, and I have walked dogs for the organization PAWS NY. I live in Westchester County, NY with my husband, my two daughters and our cat Walter.
